Duquesne University Introduces New President

PITTSBURGH, PA — Duquesne University conducted a national search for its next president, but the school's board of directors ultimately decided to stay in-house to choose the new leader.

David Dausey, current university executive vice president and provost, was introduced Wednesday as Duquesne's 14th president. Next July, he will succeed current President Ken Gormley, who will then become the university's chancellor.

According to the university website, Dausey currently is responsible for the university’s academic operations, including over 200 degree and certificate programs across Duquesne’s 10 schools. He also oversees research and innovation, enrollment management, online learning, student success, educational and classroom technology, university libraries, academic centers and institutes, and international programs, including Duquesne’s campuses in Rome and Dublin.

Dausey is a tenured professor with faculty appointments at Duquesne’s John G. Rangos Sr. School of Health Sciences and College of Osteopathic Medicine. He holds an honorary faculty appointment as a Distinguished Service Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he formerly served as a faculty member and the senior director of health programs and initiatives.

A Pittsburgh native, Dausey grew up in Jefferson Hills.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mercyhurst University. He earned master’s anddoctoral degrees in epidemiology from Yale University. He earned a second doctoral degree in highereducation management from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed post-graduate training in higher education leadership and management at Harvard University.
