Fate Of Some Pittsburgh Big Lots Stores Determined
Bankruptcy Court filings indicate six Western Pennsylvania Big Lots locations will remain open.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A list of Big Lots locations that likely will remain open has been released in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court filing, and six of the stores are in the Pittsburgh area.
Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, the Boston-based company assisting Big Lots in bankruptcy proceedings, last week released a list of 200 stores with leases or contracts to be assumed by Variety Wholesalers. The North Carolina-based retail company announced in December it would take over 200 to 400 Big Lots locations nationwide.
According to USA Today, the Western Pennsylvania locations that Variety Wholesalers will keep open Big Lots stores in Ross, Penn Hills, Greensburg, Rochester, Indiana and New Castle.

What is unclear is whether those stores will retain the Big Lots name. Variety Wholesalers operates a number of discount chains across the country, including Roses, Roses Express, Maxway, Bill's Dollar Stores and Bargain Town.
