Flood Watch Issued For Pittsburgh Area

Find out here how long the flood risk will last in the Pittsburgh area.

PITTSBURGH, PA — With heavy rain expected this weekend, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Pittsburgh, the remainder of Allegheny County and Washington, Westmoreland, Fayette and Greene counties.

The Flood Watch is in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Locations in the watch area could see as much as two inches of rain.

The weather service cautioned that excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Although the weekend will be soggy, the precipitation will be in the form of rain instead of snow. High temperatures Saturday and Sunday are expected to be in the low- to mid-40s.
