Global Tech Outage Grounds Dozens Of Pittsburgh Airport Flights

A global tech outage wreaked havoc at Pittsburgh International Airport, where dozens of flights have been cancelled or delayed.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — Nearly 40 arriving and departing flights were cancelled at Pittsburgh International Airport today after a global technology outage occurred. More than 50 flights have been delayed.

According to the airport website, 38 flights had been cancelled for the day as of 11 a.m. - 21 departures and 17 arrivals. The flight tracking website flightaware.com reported 51 delays into and out of the airport.

American Airlines had the most cancellations with 7, followed by Republic with 5. Delta and United each had 4.

Republic Airlines had the most delays with 11, followed by Breeze with 7, Delta and Spirit each had 5.

The airport issued a travel advisory on social media advising passengers to check with their airlines about flight status. The outage is not affecting airport systems and the security checkpoint is operating normally.
