Health Department Shuts Down Pittsburgh Fast Food Eatery

WILKINS, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen on William Penn Highway in Penn Center.
A Jan. 23 inspection revealed wastewater on kitchen food contact surfaces and equipment from a ceiling leak. The cleaning and disinfection can't be safely accomplished until the ceiling leak is contained, according to the inspection report.
Additionally, the urinal in the men's restroom was inoperable and clogged with fecal matter. There was no running water in either restroom.

A "closed" placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a "closed" placard.
