Isaly's History Chronicled In New Heinz History Center Book
Brian Butko's "Isaly's Chipped Ham, Klondikes and Other Tales from Behind the Counter" has just been published.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One of the city's favorite chroniclers of local history has completed a new book that should rekindle fond memories for many people - and provide a year of free ice cream for one lucky reader.
The Senator John Heinz History Center's Brian Butko's "Isaly's Chipped Ham, Klondikes and Other Tales from Behind the Counter" documents how the local business evolved from horse-drawn milk wagons into the world's largest dairy store chain.
The 148-page book, on sale now at the history center or online, features more than 400 historic illustrations and illustrations.

Butko, the history center's director of publications and editor of its Western Pennsylvania History magazine, is well-known locally for authoring books on the history of Kennywood, Luna Park, the Lincoln Highway and other topics.
To celebrate the book launch, the first 500 people to purchase the new book will be automatically entered to win one year of free ice cream courtesy of Isaly's. The contest winner will be announced on Dec. 3 and awarded with coupons good for 24 pints of Isaly’s ice cream, which includes flavors such as Chocolate Marshmallow, Toasted Almond Fudge, and White House Cherry.
