Nearly Century-Old Pittsburgh Tavern Reopens After 5-Year Closure
A bar that has served Pittsburgh patrons for more than 90 years has opened its doors once again after a years-long hiatus.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Five years was a long time to wait, but one of the city's famed bars has reopened after being closed since 2020.
The Park House, on East Ohio Street, first opened in 1933. It had a long tradition of free, self-serve popcorn and peanuts, whose shells usually were tossed on the bar's wooden floors.
The Park House also was well known for Bluegrass Jam on Wednesday nights. There also are a variety of weekly options from trivia, karaoke and vinyl record night.
