PA Turnpike Holidays Traffic: Here's What To Expect
Here's when the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission believes the most motorists will be on the road over the holidays.
PENNSYLVANIA — All road work has been suspended on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for the holidays as the turnpike commission expects nearly 6.5 million motorists to use the toll road between now and New Year's Day.
The busiest day on the turnpike is expected to be Friday, with an estimated 650,000 vehicles on the road. The second busiest is anticipated to be on Dec. 27, with an anticipated 610,000 people in transit.
The least busiest days will be on Jan. 1 with 310,000 vehicles, and Christmas Day with 395,000.

Turnpike commission officials said Thursday that additional safety and police personnel will be on the roadway to assist customers through New Year's Day.
If you want to calculate your toll before beginning your trip, the turnpike commission has an online mechanism to do so.

For those who have not used the turnpike since last year's holiday season, motorists now can move through the lanes without stopping while entering and exiting the system. Tolls are assessed via E-ZPass, or a turnpike toll-by-plate invoice is sent in the mail.
