Penguins Place Starting Goalie Tristan Jarry On Waivers
The Penguins are attempting to cut ties with starting goaltender Tristan Jarry.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Penguins have placed starting goaltender Tristan Jarry on waivers following a calamitous performance by hm during the first half of the season. The team announced the move Wednesday morning on social media.
The Penguins are giving another team the chance to take Jarry off of their hands for free, but his poor showing this season and a financially onerous contract could prevent another team from claiming him. If he clears waivers, it's uncertain whether he will be assigned to the Penguins' AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton minor league team or if he will remain on the roster.
Jarry, 29, signed a five-year, $26.8 million contract minutes before he would have reached unrestricted free agency in 2023. The Penguins obviously believe he is not earning his salary.

Jarry, who allowed three goals on 17 shots in the Penguins' Tuesday loss to the Seattle Kraken at PPG Paints Arena, has a dismal .886 save percentage this season, with a 3.31 goals against average and an 8-8-4 record in 21 starts and one relief appearance.
