PennDOT To Hold Upcoming Real ID Event In Pittsburgh
A PennDOT driver's license center in Pittsburgh will have special hours next week to help people obtain Real IDs.

PITTSBURGH, PA — To help ensure people are prepared for the upcoming federal Real ID enforcement deadline of May 7, PennDOT will hold special Real ID service hours at its driver's license center in the Penn Hills Shopping Center.
The special hours will occur Feb. 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
“We’re committed to ensuring our customers are ready for the Real ID enforcement deadline of May 7, 2025,” PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kara Templeton said in a statement.

“By offering special hours on a day when our centers are typically closed, we’re providing an additional opportunity for those who want to obtain a Real ID and be prepared. We are always looking for ways to provide a better service to residents and our Real ID Days accomplishes that mission.”
More than 2.5 million Pennsylvanians have chosen to opt into the Real ID program. Getting a Real ID is optional in Pennsylvania, but beginning May 7 Pennsylvanians will need a Real ID-compliant license/identification card, or another form of federally acceptable identification (such as a valid passport or military ID) to:

- Board domestic commercial flights.
- Enter a military base.
- Enter certain federal facilities that require a federally acceptable form of ID.
To obtain a Real ID card, residents must show proof of a Social Security number, two documents proving a current Pennsylvania address, and proof of all legal name changes.
The cost of a Real ID is a $30 one time fee, plus the $30.50 fee charged by PennDOT for all card renewals. Real ID will be valid for four years plus any time remaining on your existing Real ID identification.
