Pittsburgh-Area Chain Restaurant Hit With Consumer Alert

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Denny's restaurant on Route 30 in North Versailles.

An inspection on Monday revealed an active roof leak occurring in the ware washing area. Non-potable water leaking onto the left side of the dishwasher where dirty dishes are loaded. The restaurant had placed plastic containers under leaks to collect non-potable water.

Sliced tomatoes on the cook line were measured at unsafe temperatures.

Soiled with old food debris were the shelving in the walk-in cooler, the inside lid of the blender at the server station, the door of the cooler at the server station, the lid of the ice cream freezer and all food storage drawers on the cookline.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.
