Pittsburgh-Area Chain Restaurant Hit With Consumer Alert

One of Pittsburgh's most popular restaurant chains just received a consumer alert for one of its eateries.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A popular Pittsburgh-area chain restaurant can be shut down if it doesn't correct its health code violations within the next week.

The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Denny's on Greentree Road in Scott Township.

The alert was issued after a Nov. 25 inspection found roof leaks in critical areas such as the walk-in cooler and a near a doorway leading from the walk-in to the kitchen.

Additionally, foods such as tomatoes, cheese and ham were found to be being stored at unsafe temperatures.

Equipment and surfaces on the cook line were extremely soiled with old food residue and carbonized grease.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.

If the problems are not corrected, the eatery can be ordered to close.
