Pittsburgh-Area HS Swim Coach Had Sex Encounters With Student: Police

A former high school swim coach had numerous sexual trysts with a member of the swim team, according to police.

BEAVER COUNTY, PA — A former Riverside School District swim coach faces dozens of felony charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with a student that occurred on school grounds.

According to court documents, Alaina Marshall, 29, of Beaver Falls is charged with 34 counts of intercourse/sexual contact with a student, one count of corruption of minors and one count of unlawful contact with minor - sexual offenses.

Marshall was arrested Wednesday by North Sewickley Township police. She was taken to the Beaver County Prison after being unable to post $250,000 bail and faces a preliminary hearing on March 7.

Marshall was arrested after a Feb. 16 ChildLine call indicated a Riverside High School swim team member was sexually involved with Marshall. North Sewickley police contacted the student and his parents, and the student admitted that a sexual relationship with Marshall began when he was 16 and a sophomore during the 2023-24 school year. The relationship continued into his junior year.

The school district posted a statement on its website acknowledging that a former coach was allegedly involved in misconduct involving a high school student-athlete. The former coach is prohibited from entering district property.

"An internal review confirms that all state and local requirements relating to background and pre-employment checks was completed for this individual," the message stated. "The safety and well-being of our students are our top priority, and we remain committed to supporting our Riverside students and families."
