Pittsburgh Area To See Dangerously Cold Temperatures
The National Weather Service is warning of a prolonged period of extremely cold temperatures for Western Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Pittsburgh and all of Western Pennsylvania from 1 a.m. on Monday until 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The low temperature on Monday morning is expected to be around 7 degrees, with the high on Martin Luther King day struggling to reach 10. Tuesday morning's low is expected to be 1 below zero, with a high later in the day of 12.

The temperature on Wednesday morning is expected to be about 10 below zero. Wednesday's high will be near 9.
After a low of about 1 below zero Thursday morning, temperatures should climb to 25.

Wind chills as low as 19 degrees below zero are expected during the advisory period. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
The weather service is advising people to use caution while traveling outside and to wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves.
