Pittsburgh-Area Teen Charged With Killing Two Other Teens

Police say a teen is responsible for the shooting death of two other teens in a suburban Pittsburgh community.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A teen has been charged as an adult after being accused of shooting two other teens to death in Pitcairn.

Allegheny County police announced on Wednesday that the suspect in the June 26 shooting on Shaw Alley near Wood Street has been arrested. The victims, Tyrant Sutton, 16, and Isiah McCarthy, 16, were taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Through witness interviews and surveillance video, police said that detectives were able to determine that Jamon Brookins, 16, of Wilmerding, was responsible for the shooting. Brookins was taken into custody and has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide and robbery.

Brookins is being housed in the county jail. He faces a Nov. 7 preliminary hearing.
