Pittsburgh Catering Company Cited For Numerous Health Code Violations
The Allegheny County Health Department observed numerous troubling things at a Pittsburgh catering company this week.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for a well-known Pittsburgh catering company.
Perfection at its Best Catering on Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg had the alert issued following a Tuesday inspection.

- Three freshly dead mice on a glue trap near the utility sink in the basement.
- One fresh rodent dropping inside a bag of brown sugar on the dry storage shelf.
- One half-full cases of sweet potatoes with significant root growth and dehydration observed on the floors in the basement. Gnawed potatoes and fresh rodent droppings were observed inside case.
- Too many to count fresh mice and rat droppings on the floors in the basement.
- Burrow holes in the basement walls behind the basement steps that are likely rodent entrance points.
- Too many to count fresh rodent droppings in the cabinet beneath the handwashing sink in the employee restroom.
- Fresh rodent droppings on several sealed containers and packages of food on the dry storage shelf.
A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.
If the problems are not corrected, the eatery can be ordered to close.
