PITTSBURGH, PA — Weary of the seemingly ceaseless winter weather? Longing for the warmer days of spring? Then you might be interested in the just-released Farmers' Almanac spring forecast.

Do not expect an immediate warmup when the season begins Thursday March 20 at 5:01 a.m. with the arrival of the spring equinox. The Farmers' Almanac believes spring weather will take its time arriving and winter will linger across the Midwest, Great Lakes, New England and Northeast regions.

The periodical also is calling for plenty of spring showers and thunderstorms in Pennsylvania and most other areas except for the Southwest.

If you're looking for warm weather, you likely should head south. Overall, spring temperatures will remain cool for the northern and central regions even into June.

Pleasant weather is forecast for Pennsylvania and other Northeast states during Easter weekend. Easter occurs this year on April 20.
