PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh teen died Thursday night shortly after being shot in the city's Middle Hill neighborhood.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Wylie Avenue at around 8:50 p.m. in response to a Shotspotter Alert totaling 20 rounds. Upon arrival, they found the male victim, Joseph Powell, 17, of Beechview, with gunshot wounds to the chest and leg.
Officers rendered first aid until EMS arrived. Pittsburgh paramedics performed advanced life support on scene, including an emergency whole blood in the field transfusion. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

While on scene, officers received information that a suspect may have fled into a nearby building. SWAT was requested to assist in clearing the residence.
Multiple individuals exited the building, including a 22-year-old man with a minor gunshot wound to the leg. Pittsburgh EMS transported the adult male to the hospital in stable condition.

Two individuals have been detained for additional questioning.
