Pittsburgh Winter Storm: Latest Snowfall Forecast

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Winter Weather Advisory began for Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania at 4 a.m. and will be in effect until 4 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service issued an alert at 4 a.m. saying to expect between one to three inches of snow, with higher accumulations possible in banding.
Many school districts, including the Pittsburgh Public Schools, have cancelled classes for today.

City officials have asked residents to avoid parking vehicles on the streets if possible to aid in the swift treatment of roadways. Priority is given to streets that allow access to hospitals, emergency routes, and public safety facilities.
Residents are reminded that it takes 24 hours after the snow has stopped to treat all city streets. Residents whose street has not been cleared within that time frame are asked to call 311.

Allegheny County's Department of Public Works has deployed 27 salt trucks installed with plows. When those drivers’ shifts end this afternoon, 24 new drivers will be deployed. That number of
drivers will continue on county-owned roads until the snow stops and all roads are clear.
