Popular Pittsbugh Eatery Country's Best, National Group Says

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh eatery is the best in the country, according to a national dining organization.

The Eatery, the University of Pittsburgh's main dining hall, has received the National Association of College and University Services' Loyal E. Horton grand prize as the nation's best residential dining facility in the country.

The Horton prize is "awarded to an outstanding dining facility that encapsulates the spirit of enhancing the student experience," the association's website states.

"The facility does not need to be to enter and can be entered in multiple years. Second entries and onward must highlight new aspects of the operation that were created to enhance the student/guest experience in the facility (i.e., staffing improvements, technology improvements, menu changes, educational programming)."

Pitt was chosen among three finalists, including the University of Miami and Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. It won the grand prize at a recent association conference.
