Another Major Pittsburgh Bridge Deemed Deficient

The future of a major Pittsburgh bridge carrying 120,000 vehicles a day is up in the air.

PITTSBURGH, PA — As plans advance to replace the aging Commercial Street Bridge on the Parkway East, plans to repair or replace another key parkway span are entering their embryonic stage.

The Federal Highway Administration and PennDOT will hold a public meeting on Nov. 6 to discuss a feasibility study for the Four Mile Run bridge over the parkway. Located near the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, the span carries 120,000 vehicles daily, according to PennDOT.

The feasibility study aims to explore options to address the bridge's deficient conditions, while also balancing community, environmental, and traffic considerations.
