Seneca Valley HS grad wins press awards in Ohio

Sarah Donaldson (Class of 2018, Seneca Valley High School) won statewide awards in Ohio for her work in journalism

Sarah Donaldson (Seneca Valley High School Class of 2018) won statewide journalism awards in Ohio for her reporting from the capital in Columbus.

“Journalism isn’t easy, but I love what I do,” said Donaldson, who graduated in 2022 from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in Athens, Ohio.

Donaldson is a Statehouse News Bureau Reporter/Producer for Ideastream Public Media. She won two first place awards in the 2025 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism competition sponsored by the Press Club of Cleveland.

The awards were announced June 6. She won in the categories of Continuing Coverage and Public Service/Public Affairs.

Donaldson honed her journalism skills at WOUB Public Media in Athens, Ohio, and Southeast Ohio Magazine and internships at The Wall Street Journal in San Francisco, ABC News in Washington, DC, The Columbus Dispatch, and the Butler Eagle.
