Suburban Pittsburgh House Fire Claims Woman's Life

CRAFTON, PA — The state fire marshal is attempting to determine the cause of a house fire that claimed a woman's life on Monday.

Crews were dispatched to the residence on Elmwood Street shortly before 6 a.m. after reports of flames shooting out from a home.

A woman was found dead at the scene. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office later identified her as Christine Shutt, 71.

A man was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. His condition is unknown.

A third person initially thought to be inside the home later was located at another residence.

No firefighters were injured battling the blaze, which took several hours to get under control.
