Suspect Charged In Pittsburgh-Area Shooting That Killed 2
The January shooting left a man and a woman dead.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Duquesne that left two people dead in January.
The shooting occurred in the 100 block of Commonwealth Avenue on January 20. First responders found a man and woman who had been shot. The man, Sean Johnson Jr., 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, Catherine Lawing, was taken an area hospital in critical condition and died on January 23.
The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit interviewed witnesses, reviewed surveillance video and reviewed other evidence. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Ishmeil Muhammad, 28.

He was taken into custody Thursday and is facing multiple charges, including two counts of homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and persons to possess a firearm. Muhammad currently is in the county jail pending arraignment, police said.
