FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA — A crowd numbering 10,000 and various government officials will help usher in a new era in Pittsburgh air travel on Saturday.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting will occur and the 10,000 registered guests will get a sneak preview of the airport's new Landside Terminal.

The terminal officially will open later this fall. An official opening date has yet to be announced.

The new $1.7 billion terminal promises to provide additional parking, shorter waits at security
checkpoints and baggage claim, and outdoor plazas where people can relax before boarding their flights.

It will replace the current Landside Terminal, which opened in 1992 and is plagued with antiquated
equipment and technology, frequent security checkpoint bottlenecks and an inconvenient layout. It will be directly connected to the Airside Terminal.
