Tornado Watch Issued For Pittsburgh Area

Pittsburgh and much of Western Pennsylvania is under a tornado watch.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the Pittsburgh area and much of Western Pennsylvania until 4 p.m. today.

The watch is in effect for Allegheny, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Indiana, Lawrence, Forest, Mercer, Venango, Clairion and Jefferson counties.

Multiple lines of storms are expected to cross the area this afternoon and pose a risk for damaging winds and tornadoes.

The weather service advises to be prepared to act quickly if a tornado warning is issued. Should that occur, seek shelter in the lowest area of your home or the room with the least windows.
