FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA — In an effort to improve efficiency and streamline traveler flow, the Transportation Security Administration has changed where TSA PreCheck travelers at Pittsburgh International Airport go for security clearance.

The change went into effect Monday, two days before enforcement of federal Real ID begins.

Travelers enrolled in TSA PreCheck who are ticketed to fly out of the airport now need to head to the main security checkpoint to receive expedited screening benefits for TSA PreCheck members. The alternate checkpoint will mainly be open to screen non-TSA PreCheck travelers.

Additionally, travelers can expect to see the use of passenger screening canine teams that will be working in the checkpoint area to assist with expediting the screening process. The TSA says the canine teams are an important layer of security focused on identifying any passengers who may be carrying an explosive device.

Signs have been posted in the terminal to inform travelers of the change as they arrive in the terminal and make their way to the TSA checkpoints. Non-TSA PreCheck passengers arriving at the main checkpoint will be redirected to the alternate checkpoint.

Also the passenger screening checkpoints at the airport are now closed from 10:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. daily. Passengers are not able to access the concourse or gate area of the airport during those hours.
