Upscale Pizza Place Readies Pittsburgh Opening

PITTSBURGH, PA — If you enjoy a glass of wine with your pizza, you likely will enjoy this news.
Cork and Crust, an upscale pizza restaurant, is expected to open next month. It will be located on the first floor of the Oaklander Hotel on Bigelow Boulevard in Oakland near the University of Pittsburgh campus.
"We've established an elevated wine bar experience complimented by Neapolitan-style pizza featuring in-house made crusts, local ingredients and authentic, bold flavors," the restaurant's Facebook page states.

Cork and Crust's executive chef is well-known in Pittsburgh dining circles. Kristin Butterworh formerly worked at Nemacolin in Fayette County and been named a James Beard Award semifinalist three times.
A detailed menu is not yet online. But the restaurant's website states that its in-house neopolitan-style pie will be cooked in a classic pizza oven; its wine vendors will include some of the tope distributors in Europe and California.
