Veteran Pittsburgh News Anchor Announces Retirement

PITTSBURGH, PA — A respected Pittsburgh TV station news anchor has announced her retirement after three decades at her station.
Michelle Wright said on Thursday that she will depart WTAE-TV at the end of February.
The Emmy Award-winning morning news anchor made the announcement on the station's website.

“Reaching this decision to step away has been bittersweet," she said. '
"It has been a thrill to work alongside some of the best journalists in the business and I look forward to supporting this news team as a viewer for years to come. I’m grateful for my time here, but most of all I’m honored the viewers of western Pennsylvania trusted me every day to tell their stories.”

Wright, 60, has been with WTAE since 1994, primarily as a morning news anchor.
Wright has been active in local charities, including WTAE's Project Bundle-Up, the Komen Pittsburgh More Than Pink Walk and work with the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
