With a heat index in the mid-to-upper 90s, it's smart to take your family to a cool place.
Here are three local spots to beat the heat:
1. Plum Senior Community Center:
Allegheny County residents ages 60 and older are invited to escape the heat at the Plum Senior Community Center. The center has extended its hours on Thursday, July 18 to 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
2. Monster Mini Golf:
It might be too hot to play mini golf outdoors, so take it inside at Monster Mini Golf in Monroeville. Golf for "little monsters" is $8 and for "big monsters" it's $9. Click here for the specials.
3. Boyce Park Wave Pool:
Cool off at the wave pool. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission rates are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $4 for kids ages 13-17, $3 for kids ages 6-12 and $1 for kids 0-5.
