Accident Backs up I-76 Friday Afternoon

The scene of a multi-vehicle accident on eastbound I-76 has been cleared, and traffic levels are returning to normal.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, crews responded to the scene of the accident at 2:47 p.m. today.

Reports varied on the number of vehicles involved. WPVI-TV reported four vehicles involved, while some emergency radio reports indicated as many as nine vehicles.

The road had been reopened as of 3:45 p.m. but heavy delays remained.

A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper at the scene told Patch he could not comment on any injuries or the number of vehicles involved due to an ongoing investigation. Emergency radio reports indicated that no significant injuries occurred.
