In other news from Monday's township council meeting, elected officials recognized and honored the members of the township's first-ever Citizens Police Academy.

Eight township residents attended the 10-week course, which included teachings on police de-escalation techniques, criminal investigations, and traffic safety, as well as patrol simulations, vehicle stops and crash investigations, according to the police department.

"We had a great time teaching, and learning significantly from those we serve," the police department posted to Facebook. "Thank you all, and Congratulations!"

Also during the meeting, the township council swore in two new fire police officers — Gerard Vetter, who is a member of the Harmonville Fire Company, and Eileen Archie, a member of the Plymouth Fire Company.
