Pup-Centric 'Dog Day Of Summer' Event Set For Aug 21 In Manayunk

Don't miss adoptable dogs, "Yappy Hour," paw readings, a puppy photo booth, and more in Manayunk on Saturday, Aug. 21.

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Manayunk will be celebrating all things dogs on Aug. 21 as the neighborhood hosts its third installment of Dog Day of Summer.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21 all around the neighborhood.

Guests will find pet-friendly vendors, activities, pet adoptions, and more.

Highlights of the festivities will be a puppy photo booth, dog caricatures, paw readings, and more.

There will also be a meet and greet with everyone’s favorite "on the case" puppy character “Chase” and kids of all ages can stop by to take a pic with him from noon to 2 p.m.

Many of Manayunk’s businesses will be participating in the event, including Pet Friendly Dog Bakery, Artesano Cafe, Latitudes and Longitudes, Pooch Scoochers & Co, and Walk This Way Dog Walking & Pet Sitting. The event participants will be selling pet-friendly goodies or hosting activities, such as a kissing booth at City of Paws Pet Care.

Local rescues Home at Last Dog Rescue, Street Tails Animal Rescue, and All 4 Paws Rescue, will also be on hand with pets ready to find their permanent homes.

Topping off the fun will be food and drink specials for "Yappy Hour" with Bell's Brewing Beer Specials and Tito's Handmade Vodka Cocktails.

"It’s going to be a really fun day for both pets and their owners," Gwen McCauley, Manayunk Development Corporation’s Executive Director said. "We invite everyone to come to the event, even families who don’t have a dog. Who knows, they may end up going home with one - and get to meet my Covid Puppy - Finn!"
