Dog Day of Summer Returning To Manayunk Aug 16

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — The dog days of summer are back in Manayunk.

The Manayunk Development Corporation is inviting dog lovers and their furry four-legged companions to the highly anticipated Dog Day of Summer on Aug. 16.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Main Street Manayunk. This is not a closed street event.

Attendees will find pet vendors, pup-centric giveaways, adoptable rescues, custom portraits, splash zones, and more.

New this year is the Yards Paws and Pints Passport at nearly a dozen participating bars and restaurants. Head to participating bars and restaurants for Yards specials, plus collect stamps and be entered to win Yards dog-themed prizes.

And back again is Paws for Cause. Adopt a new friend with Bennett's Buddies with The NEW 96.5 FM and the Pennsylvania SPCA sponsored by BluePearl Pet Hospital. Bennett and The NEW 96.5 FM will be broadcasting live, with adoptables from the PSPCA.

Other events will include Yappy Hour at The Brass Tap, Adoptable Dog Meet and Greet at City of Paws Pet Care, Dog Day Raffle and Giveaways, Dan's Toonz sketching caricatures of pet parents and their furry friends, cool-down stations and chill zones with doggie pools, pup cups and more, plus vendors, pet wellness information, dog-themed hot sauces, sidewalk sales, dog beer samples, open play yard party, and much more.

Whether you're looking to adopt a new best friend, spoil your pup, or enjoy an afternoon stroll through the vibrant community, Dog Day of Summer offers something for every breed and human alike.

Food, drink and shopping are pay-as-you-go. Look for Dog Day of Summer activities to be spread throughout locations in downtown Manayunk, including Canal View Park, Richards Apex, Manayunk’s Art Allies and in front of select businesses on Main Street.

Custom Pet Portraits & Local Art
Dan’s Toonz will be sketching caricatures of pet parents and their furry friends on Cotton Street. Local artists will also be on-site offering custom pet portraits, pet-themed artwork, and handmade gifts.

Cool-Down Stations
City of Paws Pet Care & Supply will host a shaded chill zone featuring doggie pools, pup cups, and giveaway bags for the first 25 visitors. Stop by Animedic Veterinary Hospital for a refreshing pup cup ice cream treat.
