Dog Day Of Summer Set For Aug 19 In Manayunk

The event will feature vendors, "Yappy Hour" at select establishments, dog adoptions, pet caricatures, and a dog agility course.

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Next Month, Manayunk is going to the dogs, and not in the bad way.

Saturday, Aug. 19 will mark Manayunk's Dog Day of Summer event that will be filled with vendors, activities, and of course dogs.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests can again take on the Puppy Park & Agility Course at Richards Apex.

Dogs of all sizes can test their strength as they weave their way through cones, hurdles, and the doggie seesaw.

City of Paws Pet Care will be hosting a pool party right nearby for the pups to cool off, while Pet Friendly Bakery will be revealing a new mural with photo-ops, giveaways, a free training seminar, and more.

Other event highlights include a photo booth, canine caricatures with Dan’s Toonz, and an adoption event with New Leash on Life USA.

Various Manayunk businesses will be participating in the event, including Bark Social, Lightpaws Dog Training, Pet Friendly Dog Bakery, City of Paws Pet Care, and The Goat’s Beard.

Other local vendors and businesses include Street Tails Animal Rescue, Philly’s Paws & Claws, the Rox Falls Vet, Brixxy & Co., All Canines, and many more.

Event participants will be selling pet-friendly goodies and hosting fun activities, such as a dog-friendly sundae station.

To top off all the fun, Manayunk restaurants and bars will be hosting "Yappy Hour" with food and drink specials in honor of the Dog Day of Summer.

Establishments on board for Yappy Hour so far are Bark Social and The Goat's Beard.

"Manayunk has an ever-growing canine community, and we are always excited to celebrate that," said Caitlin Marsilii, Manayunk Development Corporation’s Events Coordinator. "Dog Day of Summer will bring an afternoon full of fun for the dogs, dog parents, and the overall community."
