Dog Fashion Show, Adoption Event Coming To Manayunk Aug 24

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Manayunk's popular Stroll the Street series is going to the dogs later this month.

August is Stroll the Street’s pet month, and this year, the series will be hosting its very first doggie fashion show.

The show will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24 on Cotton Street on the MNYK Artbox.

Award-winning pet fashion designer, TV personality, and animal advocate Roberto Negrin and New Leash on Life USA Rescue are hosting the event.

After the show, at 7 p.m., there will be a canine costume contest.

Categories include funniest costume, most creative costume, and best costume overall.

Winners might just receive Manayunk swag and gift certificates.

The night will start at 5 p.m. with pop-up vendors, live music, and other activities.

Manayunk retailers and restaurants will also feature in-store shopping events and cocktail/appetizer specials.

Additionally, a Puppy Park & Agility Course featuring hurdles, obstacles, and the doggie seesaw will be open on the Richards Apex lot between Pensdale and Rector streets.

At dusk, Cotton Street will also host a screening of "Shrek."

New Leash on Life USA is a rescue out of Narberth that works with at-risk dogs and
justice-involved individuals in both prison and community settings to create second chances.

Their program has a unique model where participants engage with animal-assisted therapy,
cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed practices while the rescue dogs go through
a training program with them and then graduate into loving adoptive homes.

New Leash on Life will be bringing three adoptable dogs to the show: Star, Hubble, and Sunny.

They will take on the runway with Negrin.
