Cardinal Rigali Visits Berwyn Monday Morning

Philadelphia Roman Catholic Archbishop Cardinal Rigali to honor St. Monica Pastor Emeritus Rev. George Hagenbach.

Philadelphia's retiring Roman Catholic Archbishop Cardinal Justin Rigali will be in Berwyn Monday morning. It may be his last official visit to the area before stepping down next month. Cardinal Rigali is scheduled to celebrate the life of long-time Pastor George Hagenbach. Rev. Hagenbach led St. Monica for nearly 20 year before retiring in 2001.

while undergoing testing in the hospital, according to an announcement from St. Monica. A viewing at the church is scheduled for 9:30-10:45 a.m. Monday morning with a funeral mass led by Cardinal Rigali at 11. Rev. Hagenbach will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.

This may be Cardinal Rigali's last visit to the Tredyffrin-Easttown area as Archbishop. Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver will be installed as Archbishop of Philadelphia (which includes Tredyffrin and Easttown) on September 8.
