Easttown Democrats: 'Desperately Need Volunteers.. Dearly Need Donations'

Easttown Democrat Zone Leader puts out a call supporters can answer at a meeting tonight.

In a frank and candid e-mail newsletter sent to TE Patch on September 15, Easttown Democrats admit they're low on help and money heading into the November election.

In a letter to "Fellow Easttowners" Democrat Zone Leader Craig Lewis states "our local democratic party has fallen upon difficult times"

The letter invites interested supporters to attend a meeting tonight.

Here is the September 15 newsletter as emailed to Patch.

Dear Fellow Easttowner,

Find out what's happening in Tredyffrin-Easttownfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Our local democratic party has fallen upon difficult times.

We desperately need volunteers (election day greeters, poll watchers, mailings, canvasing and committeepersons) and donations.

We dearly need donations (our coffers are empty)

The picnic is cancelled due to low turnout.

Instead of the picnic there will an information meeting at the home of:

Please come meet the local candidates, hear about election day strategies, volunteer opportunities, and/or to contribute.

The Republican party’s antics about the deficit, tax cuts for the wealthy, unrelenting antipathy against health care & pensions and their constant verbal barrage about  imminent recession has succeeded in stalling the recovery, driving up unemployment, and ruining middle class retirement savings.  As seen in this week’s federal elections, demoralized democrats are staying home.

Our local candidates and the judicial candidates are being decided this fall.  It is only about Easttown, our county & state.  No federal elections are taking place.  We cannot let yet another republican sweep happen.  Who knows what will be next on their agenda?  The last time they ran the GOP forgot to mention they wanted to take away Medicare, cut Social security, change the presidential election rules to allow gerrymandering of the federal election too.

Do these boring local elections this really affect me in Easttown?  You bet it does.

1.  DO you want an additional 10% DROP in your home price?  The TE school board voted to shortened the high school day by 12%, and marched 59 teachers out of the district.  Last year Newsweek rated TE as the 4th best school in PA.  It will never return with shortened school day.  Our Easttown homes are 25% higher than Marple or Great Valley.  Over 10% of that is school district’s performance.  What is 10% of your home worth?  Ask school board candidate Craig Lewis about this big problem.

2.  Should the board of supervisors award no-bid contracts to its own members?  Ask our supervisor candidates Fran Reardon and Mike Wacey about this big problem.

I hope to see you next Thursday,

Craig Lewis
