Hunters Control Deer Population In Tredyffrin And Beyond
Tredyffrin Supervisor Sharon Humble said Monday night the deer population is being monitored.
TREDYFFRIN, PA —Some township residents expressed concern about deer roaming around residences in Tredyffrin Township, Supervisor Sharon Humble said at Monday night's township meeting.
Humble assured the residents that the township contracts with hunters every year who help to cull the deer population in the region.
“The township is working very hard to cull the deer that they can get to,” Humble said.

The township has authorized bow hunting by the Chester Valley Deer Management Association and the Stony Run Archers Association in these township parks:
- Cedar Hollow Park
- Mill Road Park
- Radbill Park
- Richards Road Open Space
- Crabby Creek Park
- Country Gate Open Space
- Swedesford Road Open Space
- Croton Road Open Space
Deer in Valley Forge Park
Valley Forge National Park, which is located in Tredyffrin, Schuylkill, and Upper Merion townships, has a white-tail deer management program from November to March.

The program was implemented in 2009 to address the issue of too many deer browsing the trees and shrubs. The deer density is maintained at 31 to 35 per mile. In 2009, there were 241 deer per mile, according to the National Park Service
