Lane Closures Scheduled for I-76 in Montco, Philadelphia

Crews will be performing maintenance work along the Schuylkill Expressway this week.

Motorists on the Schuylkill Expressway can expect some traffic back-ups beginning Monday and lasting through Wednesday, according to an announcement from PennDOT.

Lane restrictions are scheduled this week on Interstate 76 in Philadelphia and Montgomery County for inspections and maintenance work, the agency said.

The work schedule is:

  • On Monday, June 8, the right lane will be closed on eastbound I-76 between Belmont Avenue and U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a bridge inspection. The westbound right lane will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
  • On Monday, June 8, the right lane will be closed on eastbound I-76 between Montgomery Avenue and University Avenue in Philadelphia from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for highway lighting inspection;
  • On Tuesday, June 9, the right lane will be closed on eastbound I-76 between University Avenue and Passyunk Avenue in Philadelphia from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for highway lighting inspection; and
  • On Wednesday, June 10, , the right lane will be closed on eastbound I-76 between Passyunk Avenue and Packer Avenue in Philadelphia from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for highway lighting inspection.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work zones as back-ups may occur.
