UPPER DUBLIN, PA — The annual 'Day of Service' in the township this year will focus on sprucing up an area damaged by Hurricane Ida back in September.

The SPARK Athletic Complex in Upper Dublin was one of the facilities in the township that was affected by the strong winds created by a tornado that was spawned by Ida this fall.

On Jan. 17, during the 'Day of Service' program held each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, volunteers have the opportunity to come out and help clear debris and trash that was strewn around the SPARK fields during Ida.

Upper Dublin Township was one of the hardest hit communities in Pennsylvania after Hurricane Ida came through the region.

The roof was ripped off of the complex that houses government offices and police operations, and private homes and other facilities in the municipality suffered extensive damage.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf toured Upper Dublin and other Montgomery County communities during a visit days after Hurricane Ida rolled through the region.

The SPARK Athletic Complex, which is the focus of the MLK Day cleanup, is a sports park that contains synthetic turf multi-use fields and a walking trail, according to the township.
