UPPER DUBLIN, PA — While some communities in the southern United States are currently being pounded by Hurricane Ian, one town right here in Montgomery County continues to grapple with the devastation caused by a strong tornado created by last year's Hurricane Ida.

Upper Dublin Township was hammered early last September by an EF-2 tornado caused by Hurricane Ida, and the community continues to recover from damages sustained in the storm.

On Thursday, a three-day carnival designed to benefit the devastated community will take place at Temple University's Ambler campus.

There will also be a family carnival from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday with activities that are geared more toward younger children.

For that event, the cost will be $20 for the first child in a family, $10 each for second and third children, and free for kids 4-plus.

There will also be a beer garden with live music each evening, with fire pits, corn hole and more.

The carnival is sponsored by Temple University, the Kiwanis Club of Ambler, Upper Dublin Township, Ambler Savings Bank, Mattison Estates, PlumbPro Services, The 501 at Mattison and more.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Upper Dublin Citizen Emergency Fund, the Upper Dublin Lutheran Church Assisting UD Tornado Recovery Fund and the Ambler Kiwanis Club.

Upper Dublin was hit particularly hard by last year's toranado, which caused damage to the township building, private homes and local schools.

Recently, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring September "Upper Dublin Strong Month," due to the devastation this eastern Montgomery County community experienced from Ida and the tornado.
