Pennsbury To Decide School-Return On Thursday
The school board will meet to consider in-person classes sooner than the January date they originally approved.
FALLSINGTON, PA — The Pennsbury School District board will meet Thursday to decide whether students should return to school sooner than originally planned.
In August, school board members voted to delay in-person instruction through at least Jan. 29 due to the threat of the coronavirus outbreak. It was the longest delay of any local school system, with most others in Lower Bucks County planning returns this month or in November.
Since then, the district's students have been learning remotely.

But, earlier this month, school board President T.R. Kannan said in a letter to parents that the board and administration had started "serious discussions" on plans to start a phased reopening of schools earlier than that.
In the letter, Kannan said that the board would initially focus on "specialized learning populations" returning to class, followed by students in the earliest grades.

While the number of new cases of the coronavirus have begun rising again throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey, those infection numbers have so far remained at a low baseline number in Bucks County.
According to county health department figures on Tuesday, there were 19 known active cases in Falls Township, 11 cases in Lower Makefield and fewer than 10 in Yardley.
The Pennsbury school board will meet remotely at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The meeting may be viewed live at this link.
