Ride-Share Driver In Yardley Was DUI: Police

It was one of two DUI arrests in the area of Main Street in Yardley on Saturday, according to police.

YARDLEY, PA — A pair of DUI arrests in Yardley on Saturday included one in which a driver for a ride-share company was charged.

At 1:17 a.m. on Saturday, a Yardley Borough Police officer was called to North Main Street and Dolington Road after a caller reported that the ride-share driver was speeding and driving recklessly.

Assisted by Lower Makefield Police officers, the officer arrived and found the driver's vehicle, a gray Hyundai sedan. The officer developed probable cause to believe the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

The 22-year-old man, from Newportville, was arrested and charged with DUI and his vehicle was impounded.

Later, at 12:30 p.m., Yardley officers were dispatched to a crash in the 40 block of South Main Street. There, they developed probable cause that a 50-year-old woman from Lower Makefield involved in the crash was under the influence.

She was charged with DUI and improperly entering a roadway, police said.
