BENSALEM, PA — Julian Asencio, 15, achieved a black belt in karate at just ten years old. Now, after a Yardley nonprofit stepped in to pay for the Bensalem teen's continuing martial arts education, he's been tapped to be an assistant to his teacher — which also means his tuition is waived.

"This is what the charity is all about," Gene Rice, who founded Plant a Seed Foundation with his wife, Michele, told 6ABC. "Because it allows us now to take those funds and help another child."

According to 6ABC's report, over 700 scholarships have been awarded since their foundation was created in 2008.
