Yardley Water Might Taste, Look Funny: Here's Why

Yardley Borough officials said the changes to the water system are expected to begin on Friday, Oct. 18.

YARDLEY, PA — Starting on Friday, residents of Yardley may notice some changes to the taste and appearance of their tap water as Pennsylvania American Water makes some changes to its system.

Borough officials say the changes are temporary and that water will remain safe to drink.

The water company will be temporarily changing its disinfection treatment process in Yardley while it performs maintenance on the system. During the change, water customers may noticed "an increase in the taste and smell of chlorine."

PAW also will be flushing its system. During that time, discolored water may appear.

The treatment change will be in effect from Friday, Oct. 18, through about Nov. 29, borough officials said.

Pennsylvania American Water notes that the disinfection method is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and says it will be continuously monitoring Yardley water to make sure it remains safe to drink.
