Armed Robber, Casino Cheat Collared: Cops

The two Providence men were arrested Tuesday.

RHODE ISLAND — One Providence man was arrested Tuesday and charged with armed robbery and another was arrested the same day and charged with cheating a casino, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Samuel Vasquez, 38, was arrested by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force and charged with armed robbery, the state police said.

Vasquez, a resident of Rugby Street was also charged with failing to appear in court for a first-degree robbery case out of Cranston.

"Mr. Vasquez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Providence Police Department," the state police said.

Also on Tuesday, the Gaming Enforcement Unit arrested Carlos Del Rosario, age 33.

Del Rosario, a resident of Clematis Street, was charged with five counts of casino cheating — employee of a gaming facility who knowingly fails to collect or attempts and fails to collect, a losing wager or pay, or attempt to pay, an amount greater on any wager than required under the rules of a casino game, according to the state police.

Del Rosario also was charged with larceny, the state police said.

"Mr. Del Rosario was processed at the Wickford Barracks, arraigned in Second District Court in front of the Honorable Judge Houlihan and released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail," the state police said.
