Providence College Women’s Hockey Falls To UConn, 4-1

PROVIDENCE, RI — Providence College women’s hockey fell to UConn Friday by a score of 4-1.

The Huskies scored first at 7:26 of the first period when Brooke Campbell forced a turnover and scored an unassisted goal.

The Friars tied the game with 1:41 remaining in the first period when junior Kiara Kraft scored on a deflection in front of the goal.

After the Huskies were awarded the first power play of the game, Julia Pellerin regained the lead for UConn at 15:27 of the second period.

UConn extended its lead to 3-1 at 6:50 of the third period on an unassisted goal from Sadie Hotles.

The Huskies sealed the game at 4-1 on an empty net goal from Claire Murdoch at 17:22 of the third period.

Graduate student goaltender Hope Walinski made 29 saves for the Friars.

Providence is now 3-6-0 against ranked opponents this season.

The Friars have a chance to even the score against the Huskies with a Saturday afternoon game at UConn.
