The new national study by personal injury attorneys at Las Vegas firm H&P Law revealed a "sharp rise in hit-and-run crashes during evening hours across the United States, according to a media release.

The analysis reviewed fatal crash data from all 50 states between 2019 and 2023, focusing on incidents occurring between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., the release said.

New Mexico ranked worst with 5.30 evening hit-and-run crashes per million residents, followed by Tennessee and Arizona, according to the study.
Rhode Island finished a distant 42nd with only 0.74 evening hit-and-run crashes per million residents.

The top state was New Hampshire with 0.14 evening hit-and-run crashed per million residents.
