PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence woman was under the influence when she was involved in a deadly wreck late Sunday night, police said.
Licheva Castro, 36, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs resulting in death — first offense, driving to endanger resulting in death — first offense, obstructing an officer in execution of duty, driving with a suspended/revoked/canceled license — fourth or subsequent offense, and on warrants charging her with possessing 10 or less grams of cocaine and obstruction of a police officer in the execution of duty, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.
"This arrest was the result of a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 95 South in the city of Providence," the release said.

Castro, a resident of Pine Street, was arrested shortly before midnight, police said.
"Castro was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by the justice of the peace, and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Women's Intake Center, pending morning arraignment/presentment as a bail and probation violator at Sixth Division District Court," police said.

State police Capt. David Bassignani failed to respond to voicemail and email messages inquiring about the crash and Castro's arrest.
